Students progress through a series of levels individually, with each level becoming increasingly difficult by adding more notes and varying rhythms. For most of the levels students are given a choice as to which song they want to play out of a group of choices. Each group of choices offers pieces that vary in difficulty to ensure that all students have an opportunity to succeed and move on to new levels.

Each time a student passes a level, he/she earns a badge on a certificate. (Each badge level is printed on a different paper colour.

Students who have achieved Recorder Hero status gain access to the "Unlocked Songs".

Song choices are as follows:

Fan (Notes: BAG):
Hot Cross Buns
Sleep, Baby Sleep
Merrily We Roll Along
Au Clair de la Lune
All Through the Night

My Heart Will Go On (Titanic Theme)
Wake Me When September Ends

When doing this program, I had students practicing individually, and they could move along at their own pace. Yes...it was noisy...but they were all really excited to get to choose their songs and didn't feel pressured to move on if they weren't ready. I kept 10 numbered popsicle sticks at my desks, which students could take when they were ready to test for a badge. I would call the numbers as ready, to avoid a big lineup at my desk. The kids were really enthusiastic and were even banging down my door at recess times to practice and test!

This package includes:
- 10 levels of printable recorder songs with fingering charts (33 pages)
- 12 pages of "Unlocked Songs" for students who have passed the "Recorder Hero" level
- Song folder title printables (11 pages)
- 10 sheets of badges for printing on coloured paper
- printable "Recorder Hero" certificate (badges are glued on as each level is passed)
